Mission Statement
The Youth Faith FormationProgram at The Church of Saint Andrew in Elk River is developing a faith community rooted in evangelization, leadership development, pastoral care, prayer and worship, advocacy, justice and service, catechesis, and community life.  We strive to instill in our youth that they are a vibrant intricate part of our faith community.  As stewards of God’s love we provide opportunities to deepen their faith and broaden their knowledge; thus empowering the youth of our parish to continue life long faith formation.
The Church of St. Andrew’s vibrant youth ministry program offers many activities that encourage 6-12th grade students to:
  • Get involved in our parish and world wide community
  • Meet new people
  • Live as disciples of Jesus Christ
  • Strengthen their relationship with God

Our programs are fun and faith-enriching! Young people can participate in as many or as little activities as they are able. They are always welcome to bring friends. All are welcome!

Youth Ministry activities include:
  • Social events
  • A Call To Service (ACTS) – Our High School Mission / Retreat
  • S.A.I.N.T.S. (Serving Anyone In Need Together Selflessly) – Service
  • National Catholic Youth Conference Trip-November of Odd Years

Youth Leadership - Peer Minister
What does a peer minister do?”  A Peer Minister is typically a high school junior or senior involved in many areas of parish life. Peer Ministers have the opportunity to be leaders of our various large group presentations in the middle and high school faith formation program, help to lead Sunday School and Children's Liturgy of the Word, be a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and be part of various parish Holy Week liturgies.

Do I have what it takes to be a peer minister?” These are some of the qualities of a peer minister:
*A love for fun  *Excited about your faith  *Willing to try something new
*Good listener  *Comfortable in front of a group of people *Role model *Committed to coming to the planning nights and activity nights

“What is the time commitment?” The time commitment is up to you.  You can be involved with as little or as much as you’d like to be.  All that is expected is that you follow through on the commitments that you make. "How do I Sign Up?" Contact Brian Jorgensen at the parish office for more information. Typically, applications for this program are received in March, and then training begins in May for the upcoming school year.

A Call To Service (ACTS)

The program is a collaborative effort between Catholic Education Ministries of the Diocese of St. Cloud and parish youth ministers. Young people spend Sunday through Friday in late June serving the needy of Minneapolis. Contact Brian Jorgensen at the parish office for more information.
