Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults for Children
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults for Children may serve your needs if your child/youth is between the ages of seven and seventeen and:
  • Is not Baptized.
  • Comes from another faith tradition and/or has had no formal Catholic Faith Formation.
  • Wants to prepare for the sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation or Confirmation.

RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children) is a process for anyone who wishes to inquire about or to join the Catholic faith community. The preparation process for Baptism (for those between the ages of seven and seventeen) and Initiation (celebrating the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist) are part of the RCIA process.

The primary goal of this journey is conversion, conversion to Christ at a developmental level your child/youth can understand. Ideally, it is at least a one year process providing catechumens (those who are unbaptized) and candidates (those who have been baptized) a full liturgical year of faith-filled experiences.

Children and youth in the RCIA process gather with their parents and members of the St. Andrew’s community, who walk with the catechumens and candidates as companions and sponsors. They reflect together on the Sunday scripture readings, grow in understanding of Catholic beliefs and practices, share and listen to faith stories, and recognize their call to the Catholic faith community. The process involves formation in the Gospel teachings, as well as Christian service.

Your family is welcome to enter into this process at any time of the year. The first step is to contact Fr. Mark Innocenti or minnocenti@saint-andrew.net.  All are Welcome!
